{"id":47763,"date":"2017-11-08T10:26:14","date_gmt":"2017-11-08T15:26:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=47763"},"modified":"2017-11-09T08:52:37","modified_gmt":"2017-11-09T13:52:37","slug":"goodman-lecture-explores-international-advertising","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2017\/11\/goodman-lecture-explores-international-advertising\/","title":{"rendered":"Goodman lecture explores international advertising"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The next instalment of the Goodman School of Business Luncheon Speaker Series will focus on international advertising.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brock Marketing, International Business and Strategy Associate Professor <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kai-Yu Wang will present his research during a talk on Friday, Nov. 17.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He will discuss his paper, \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/goodman\/wp-content\/uploads\/primary-site\/sites\/6\/LSS-Local-or-global-image.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Local or Global Image? The Role of Consumers\u2019 Local-Global Identity in Code-Switched Advertising Effectiveness among Monolinguals<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u201d which was published in the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Journal of Advertising<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> last year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wang\u2019s research examines how effective \u2018code-switched advertising\u2019 \u2014 or ads containing two or more languages \u2014 is on people who speak and understand only one language.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now in its 12th year, Goodman\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/goodman\/faculty-research\/luncheon-speaker-series\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Luncheon Speaker Series<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> provides an informal and engaging opportunity to listen and discuss recent advances in research, teaching and practices with colleagues internationally.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The event is being held in Sankey Chamber from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Space is limited.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Goodman faculty, staff and graduate students are invited to attend.
