{"id":47670,"date":"2017-11-03T14:21:44","date_gmt":"2017-11-03T18:21:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=47670"},"modified":"2017-11-03T14:21:44","modified_gmt":"2017-11-03T18:21:44","slug":"brock-graduate-named-st-catharines-cao","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2017\/11\/brock-graduate-named-st-catharines-cao\/","title":{"rendered":"Brock graduate named St. Catharines CAO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brock University graduate Shelley Chemnitz (BAdmin \u201989) has taken the helm at the City of St. Catharines, appointed as the municipality\u2019s new chief administrative officer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chemnitz had been filling the role in an acting capacity since July when former CAO Dan Carnegie retired. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She brings more than two decades of financial, administrative and leadership experience to her new position, after previously working as the City\u2019s treasurer and commissioner of corporate support services.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cMy experience at Brock University as a graduate of the Accounting Co-op program gave me the firm foundation that led to my success and future career,\u201d said Chemnitz, a St. Catharines native.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The knowledge she gained during her University studies helped her to build the skills and confidence needed to enter the professional world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe experiential education program at Brock was and still is an excellent way to prepare students for success,\u201d Chemnitz said. \u201cIt allowed me to use the skills I learned to build my career.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As the St. Catharines CAO, Chemnitz will serve as the link between City Council and the City\u2019s administration.
