{"id":47423,"date":"2017-10-23T11:37:12","date_gmt":"2017-10-23T15:37:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=47423"},"modified":"2017-10-23T16:07:08","modified_gmt":"2017-10-23T20:07:08","slug":"goodman-grad-honoured-with-beta-gamma-sigma-membership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2017\/10\/goodman-grad-honoured-with-beta-gamma-sigma-membership\/","title":{"rendered":"Goodman grad honoured with Beta Gamma Sigma membership"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"page-intro dropcap\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The time Rhonda Klosler (BBA \u201993) spent at Brock University set the tone for her entire career.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The chief operating officer of Collins Barrow Toronto shared her experience as a former Brock co-op student\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">during a special ceremony Friday, Oct. 13.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Goodman School of Business graduate received an honorary membership to the University\u2019s Beta Gamma Sigma chapter and was formally inducted into the prestigious academic honours society, along with Goodman Dean Andrew Gaudes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Klosler and Gaudes accompanied a group of 49 business students who were welcomed to the society by receiving the coveted gold Beta Gamma Sigma lapel pins to signify their membership.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The academic honours society recognizes students who are at the top of their class. One of just 10 Canadian chapters, Goodman\u2019s Beta Gamma Sigma chapter has welcomed over 1,300 students since 2004 and was <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2017\/05\/goodman-beta-gamma-sigma-chapter-earns-international-award\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recently awarded the Silver Outstanding Chapter of the Year award<\/a> for its efforts in engaging students on campus.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_47424\" style=\"width: 405px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-47424\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-47424\" src=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Beta-Gamma-Sigma-Event-Oct-13-RS-1050x699.jpg\" alt=\"Andrew Gaudes and Rhonda Klosler\" width=\"395\" height=\"263\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-47424\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Goodman School of Business Dean Andrew Gaudes and Rhonda Klosler (BBA \u201993), Chief Operating Officer, Collins Barrow Toronto, were inducted into Brock University\u2019s Beta Gamma Sigma chapter Friday.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cBeing inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma is a very special honour for me,\u201d said Klosler, who came to Brock in 1989 from a small community in northern Ontario.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The University\u2019s culture and a sense of community were significant factors in her university decision. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe environment at Brock immediately felt like a great fit and I was not wrong,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The choice to come to Brock is one that would end up shaping her career.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWithout my degree from Brock, it would be difficult to imagine what my life would be like today. I can say with complete honesty that my degree has impacted every part of my life,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remembering a time when Brock\u2019s co-op option was limited to 200 accounting students, Klosler celebrated the achievements of co-op programming which now reaches 1,300 students across the University. Enrolment numbers across the University have also increased by 10,000 since she was a student.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWhat a great story of success and growth for Brock and I\u2019m so glad to be part of it,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Klosler has been an extraordinary proponent for Brock\u2019s co-op program as it propelled her own career forward.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cFour months into university, I was off at my first work term at the employer I have now spent my entire career with \u2014 Collins Barrow Toronto,\u201d she said. \u201cThe practical experience obtained during the co-op program, combined with the technical training from Brock, have been used in all aspects of my career and development at Collins Barrow Toronto.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Klosler\u2019s involvement with the University did not end with Convocation.
