{"id":47095,"date":"2017-10-11T15:24:31","date_gmt":"2017-10-11T19:24:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=47095"},"modified":"2017-10-12T17:31:00","modified_gmt":"2017-10-12T21:31:00","slug":"goodman-family-tours-business-school-expansion-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2017\/10\/goodman-family-tours-business-school-expansion-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Goodman family tours business school expansion project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For Ned Goodman, supporting a university isn\u2019t about the financial return on investment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo see the Goodman School of Business flourish and know that my support and involvement played a critical role in it provides me with a return that is not measurable in dollars or percentages,\u201d Goodman said Friday as he toured the $22-million renovation and expansion project currently underway at Brock. \u201cIt provides the ultimate meaning of a lifetime of work and study.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Former Brock University Chancellor Ned Goodman, his son Dan and his grandson Anthony all got a first-hand look at the dramatic progress being made on the project to expand or refresh 79,000 square feet of classroom, office and collaborative space.<a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Construction-Tour-with-Goodmans-4-RS.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-47100 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Construction-Tour-with-Goodmans-4-RS-1050x700.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1050\" height=\"700\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Before the tour, the Goodman family met with business school students and offered some valuable advice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI always advise students to work hard and focus on the work in front of them,\u201d Ned Goodman said. \u201cIf you give your best effort today, tomorrow seems to surprise to the upside consistently.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also emphasized the importance of taking risks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMake sure to regularly push yourself out of your comfort zone,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Dan Goodman said the family is \u201ccompletely blown away\u201d to see the progress on what started years ago as a seed of an idea.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe look at the Goodman School of Business and we think the future has endless possibilities. We\u2019re so confident in the direction that it\u2019s going and we\u2019re delighted to see the physical infrastructure and how well it\u2019s turning out,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He said the Goodman Family Foundation has made supporting post-secondary education one of its mandates because his father wants to make access to education easier than it was for him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy brothers and I all have significant post-secondary education, as does my father.\u00a0For him it wasn\u2019t as easy to continue his studies at university.
