{"id":47063,"date":"2017-10-10T16:11:48","date_gmt":"2017-10-10T20:11:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=47063"},"modified":"2017-10-10T16:12:02","modified_gmt":"2017-10-10T20:12:02","slug":"full-house-expected-for-badgers-vs-bullying-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2017\/10\/full-house-expected-for-badgers-vs-bullying-event\/","title":{"rendered":"Full house expected for Badgers vs. Bullying event"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">C<\/span>harles Kissi\u2019s message at a Brock Badgers awareness event later this week will be simple: \u201cYou are not alone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kissi, head coach of the Brock men\u2019s basketball team, is one of three speakers scheduled for Badgers vs. Bullying, an outreach event that will bring around 800 elementary school students from 13 schools across Niagara to Brock Thursday, Oct. 12.<\/p>\n<p>This marks the third consecutive year for an outreach event organized by the Badgers men\u2019s basketball team, designed to help educate Niagara youths in Grades 6 to 8 about various social issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want them to know that they\u2019re never alone,\u201d Kissi said. \u201cThey might be thinking they\u2019re going through this on their own, but there\u2019s always someone else who is also experiencing it, or who is there to help you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The coach said the outreach events also teach his players about being role models.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a team, we\u2019re capable of having a voice that can send messages to help impact our community and our youth,\u201d said Kissi. \u201cThat\u2019s why we want our players to be involved in this.
