{"id":46415,"date":"2017-08-29T12:28:38","date_gmt":"2017-08-29T16:28:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=46415"},"modified":"2017-08-29T16:07:55","modified_gmt":"2017-08-29T20:07:55","slug":"new-associate-dean-for-math-and-science","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2017\/08\/new-associate-dean-for-math-and-science\/","title":{"rendered":"New Associate Dean for Math and Science"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Shyamal Bose is passionate about seeing the next generation succeed. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And, as the new Associate Dean, Undergraduate Programs for the Faculty of Mathematics and Science, his goal is to provide as many opportunities as possible to help students enter the workforce with confidence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bose has spent nearly 30 years working as a professor in Brock\u2019s Department of Physics, where he held the role of chair from 2003-08.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During his time at the helm, he successfully mounted three new programs: Biophysics, a minor in Physics and a BSc Honours with concentration in Applied Optics and Laser Technology \u2014 the latter a joint venture with Niagara College.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bose has served on numerous departmental, faculty and University committees, and from 1998 to 2000 he represented Brock on the Appraisal Committee of Ontario Council of Graduate Studies.
