Online tickets will be available at cuvee.ca on Oct. 1, when wine afficianados can take advantage of early-bird prices.<\/p>\n<p>This marks the fourth year that Brock University\u2019s Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute (CCOVI) has taken the lead in organizing Cuv\u00e9e, a weekend-long celebration of VQA wines and local cuisine in the heart of Ontario wine country.\u00a0 Brock, through CCOVI, produces the Cuv\u00e9e program to support the future of the grape and wine industry.<\/p>\n<p>Cuv\u00e9e 2018 will see the return of the popular \u201cWinemakers\u2019 Favorite Wines\u201d feature, along with gourmet food delicacies and an Apr\u00e8s Cuv\u00e9e party fuelled by live music and featuring selections from micro-breweries, cideries and VQA wineries.<\/p>\n<p>It has also been confirmed that last year\u2019s Cuv\u00e9e Grand Tasting generated more than $37,000 in net revenues, of which $15,000 goes to fund scholarships while more than $18,000 will support research to benefit the grape and wine industry.\u00a0 Another $3,700 goes to the Niagara Community Foundation, in recognition of their past stewardship of Cuv\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p>Cuv\u00e9e manager Barb Tatarnic said the 2017 event drew more than 750 guests to the gala Friday night Grand Tasting, with hundreds more taking part in the weekend-long enRoute program that offers special tastings at wineries around Niagara.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough the last few years we\u2019ve rebranded, reworked and rejuvenated the event,\u201d said Tatarnic. \u201cWe\u2019re thrilled with its success and the positive feedback we\u2019ve received from our guests\u201d<\/p>\n<p>CCOVI Director Debbie Inglis said Cuv\u00e9e\u2019s continued success reflects the vitality and significance of the grape and wine industry and its supporters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHosting the event involves hundreds of hours of work by devoted volunteers, but it is all worthwhile when you see how the profits support crucial research projects and help students complete their education,\u201d Inglis said.<\/p>\n<p>Alexandra Gunn, a top student in Brock\u2019s Oenology and Viticulture (OEVI) degree program, said her studies are a rich blend of classroom work and real-world research experience, and that attending Cuv\u00e9e let her interact with industry leaders and realize how CCOVI\u2019s research benefits grape growers and wineries first-hand.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCuv\u00e9e is one of the paramount events to Ontario&#8217;s grape and wine industry and it highlights the importance of the OEVI program within the\u00a0broader grape and wine industry,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With the 2017 grape harvest just weeks away, the time has also come to make plans for attending the 30th annual Cuv\u00e9e Grand Tasting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":55,"featured_media":46372,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[3319,41,1],"tags":[61,703,855,1657,2449],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/46368"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/55"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=46368"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/46368\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":56434,"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/46368\/revisions\/56434"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/46372"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=46368"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=46368"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=46368"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
