Avid and fairweather readers are invited to a new book club for faculty and staff.<\/p>\n
The club, organized through the Brock Wellness committee, will meet once a month to discuss a popular fiction or non-fiction book, said organizer Diana Panter, committee member and publications and convocations events assistant in the Office of the Registrar.<\/p>\n
The purpose is to establish more social groups on campus and give people a venue to get to know each other, Panter said.<\/p>\n
Book clubs are fun because of the camaraderie involved, she said.<\/p>\n
“It’s about forming bonds with people who you regularly wouldn’t have contact with and sharing a common interest,” she said.<\/p>\n
The club will meet in the Campus Store, which will sell and feature that month’s selection. The group will be low stress, Panter said.<\/p>\n
“If you’re unable to read the book, that’s OK. If you’re unable to make it to the meeting, that’s OK,” she said.<\/p>\n
The first meeting will be Sept. 28 from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the Campus Store. Anyone interested in joining can email brockwellness@brocku.ca<\/a>.
