{"id":46130,"date":"2017-08-08T13:28:03","date_gmt":"2017-08-08T17:28:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=46130"},"modified":"2017-08-08T13:28:03","modified_gmt":"2017-08-08T17:28:03","slug":"big-medal-haul-for-brock-rowers-at-summer-games","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2017\/08\/big-medal-haul-for-brock-rowers-at-summer-games\/","title":{"rendered":"Big medal haul for Brock rowers at Summer Games"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Brock University rowers won eight medals at the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Kenora on Rabbit Lake over the weekend.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In an Ontario domination of the men&#8217;s events, Badger\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Luke Gadsdon (Hamilton) led the way with two gold medals winning the men&#8217;s pair and the men&#8217;s eight. Right behind him was teammate Owen Volkner (St. Catharines) winning gold in the lightweight men&#8217;s four and then racing as a heavyweight placing second for a silver in the men&#8217;s heavy four. Erik Hohnstein (Edmonton) also won two medals placing third in the men&#8217;s eight and third in the men&#8217;s quad with Alberta.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">Incoming Brock recruit Anna Maloney (Niagara Falls) won gold in the women&#8217;s quad, and was fourth in the women&#8217;s double. Amanda Martin (Orono) came third in the women&#8217;s eight and fourth in the women&#8217;s four. Alicia Piazza came fourth in the lightweight women&#8217;s double.
