{"id":45365,"date":"2017-06-16T11:32:21","date_gmt":"2017-06-16T15:32:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=45365"},"modified":"2017-06-16T14:22:45","modified_gmt":"2017-06-16T18:22:45","slug":"brock-employee-hits-250-km-mark-in-marathon-bruce-trail-run-for-cystic-fibrosis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2017\/06\/brock-employee-hits-250-km-mark-in-marathon-bruce-trail-run-for-cystic-fibrosis\/","title":{"rendered":"Brock employee hits 250-km mark in marathon Bruce Trail run for Cystic Fibrosis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each day, Emily Allan wakes up in a new town along the Bruce Trail with one goal in mind: to cover more ground, and raise more money for Cystic Fibrosis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The cross-country coach and employee in Brock University\u2019s Faculty of Applied Health Sciences has now run more than 250 kilometres during End to End CF, an expedition covering the entire 895-kilometre Bruce Trail that aims to raise both funds and awareness.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-45367\" src=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/End-to-End-CF-300x225.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"237\" height=\"178\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cystic Fibrosis is the most common fatal genetic disease affecting Canadian kids and young adults. Allan is doing the run in memory of her cousin Sarah Bloomfield, who died of the disease at age 23.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Thursday, while Emily was running a challenging 44-kilometre leg near Owen Sound, her fundraising total passed the $20,000 mark \u2014 more than twice her original goal of $8,950, or $10 per Bruce Trail kilometre.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt\u2019s amazing.
