<\/b>Brock Student Life and Community Experience is looking to make networking on campus a little easier for student staff members working throughout the summer.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWith most people gone for the summer, it\u2019s not always easy for students to stay involved or engaged on campus,\u201d said Sarah Salt, Student Life Events and Programs Assistant.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe created the Brock Summer Student Staff Network as an opportunity for summer staff to get together, attend events or even just eat lunch at the Farmers Market as a group.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Since its inception in 2015 by a former staff member, Student Life has seen the impact those connections can have on both current and prospective students.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDuring the first summer, we were able to connect around 15 to 20 student staff members from the Smart Start team, the students\u2019 union and Student Life for a great collaborative effort in transitioning new students to campus during the Smart Start and LEAP programs,\u201d Salt said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe formed strong friendships with each other, but, more importantly, with the incoming students; friendships that we still nurture today.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The network\u2019s summer calendar is quickly filling with events and activities, including trips to SkyZone trampoline park, the Port Dalhousie Supper Market and some of Niagara\u2019s many wineries. The group is also putting together a beach volleyball team.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe idea is to do things that are low cost, easy to access and that help create a social environment so we can all enjoy a great summer in Niagara,\u201d Salt said.<\/span><\/p>\n
