The Niagara business community is recognizing its next generation of leaders, and three people from Brock University have made the cut.<\/p>\n
Jayne Morrish, Jesse Barraza and Lorraine Snihur were on the list when Business Link Niagara\u2019s annual Top 40 Under 40 Business Achievement Award recipients were announced recently.<\/p>\n
They will receive their awards at Business Link\u2019s gala being held May 11 at the Holiday Inn Parkway Convention Centre in St. Catharines.<\/p>\n
Development Officer Snihur said she believes \u201cin order to truly be a part of a community, you need to become involved.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is why my husband and I choose to live, work, volunteer and raise our family here,\u201d Snihur said. \u201cThese awards prove there are many others in Niagara who share in this belief and know that when we work together we can help our community grow healthy and strong.\u201d<\/p>\n
Morrish, a knowledge translation officer for the Lifespan Development Research Centre, called the award an honour.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is extremely rewarding to see the hard work of all of this year\u2019s recipients recognized and I feel very proud to be part of a community that places value on developing well-rounded business leaders,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Barraza said the awards show the good work being done at Brock.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m extremely happy to know that what we do in the community personally and representing Brock is noticed,\u201d said Barraza, Student-Athlete Services Co-ordinator for Brock Sports. \u201cI look forward to building relationships and opportunities as my career continues here at Brock.\u201d<\/p>\n
In addition to the three Brock employees, nearly a quarter of the 40 Under 40 are Brock alumni. Also making the list are Brock grads Shannon Heyder, Owen Hughes, Pamela Isaak, Nicole Johnson, Chantelle Mamone, Justin Parro, Brett Poole and Mark Richardson.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
