Brock University is cooking up something\u00a0for a good cause.<\/p>\n
Members of Hospitality Services will be bringing their school spirit, along with their secret recipe, to the 11th annual Community Care Chili Cook-Off on Friday.<\/span><\/p>\n The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Market Square in downtown St. Catharines, where 13 competitors will put their chili to the test.<\/span><\/p>\n Brock Hospitality Services Marketing Manager Christina Richards, Food Service Director Tanya Thorp and Chef Andrew Mills will represent the University in the competition that raises funds for the much-needed local services provided by Community Care in St. Catharines and Thorold.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cNot only is our chili going to contain the traditional ingredients, we are also adding some new flavours with in-house double smoked bacon and chorizo sausage,\u201d Richards said.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThis chili will be finished off with sour cream and chive drizzle topped with an in-house secret cornbread sphere.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Richards encouraged the Brock community to attend to not only help the University take home the trophy, but also to support the worthy cause and enjoy a hearty meal.<\/span><\/p>\n Diners are able to purchase tickets at the door for $10 that allow them to try 10 chili samples.<\/span><\/p>\n They can then vote for their favourite batches to help determine the winners.<\/span><\/p>\n A panel of judges will sample each recipe during a blind tasting before the top three prizes are awarded, along with the People\u2019s Choice Award.<\/span><\/p>\n
