{"id":43522,"date":"2017-02-13T17:27:42","date_gmt":"2017-02-13T21:27:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=43522"},"modified":"2020-03-05T10:08:42","modified_gmt":"2020-03-05T15:08:42","slug":"10-years-later-brocks-grape-wine-lectures-are-food-for-thought-around-the-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2017\/02\/10-years-later-brocks-grape-wine-lectures-are-food-for-thought-around-the-world\/","title":{"rendered":"10 years later, Brock\u2019s grape &#038; wine lectures are food for thought around the world"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It began in 2007 as a way to get timely research out of the lab and into the hands of Ontario grape growers and winemakers.<\/p>\n<p>Today the annual lecture series by Brock University\u2019s Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute (CCOVI) has a global reach.\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">Since tracking began in \u00a02012, the presentations by leading scientists and industry experts have had more than 7,000 views from 43 countries worldwide.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>It all starts up again this week as the 2017 series of weekly lectures takes place on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe series started as a way to get our research out to the growers and winemakers in our own backyard,\u201d said CCOVI Director Debbie Inglis. \u201cTaking the series online has been a real game-changer allowing us to share our industry-driven research across Canada and around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Topics for this year\u2019s series span the grape and wine value chain examining areas from sparkling wine production, to the effect wine ratings have on prices, and how climate change is impacting Ontario\u2019s wine industry.
