<\/b>Volunteers are needed to show future Brock Badgers what school spirit is all about during the upcoming Scotties Tournament of Hearts.<\/span><\/p>\n

The University is a proud Silver Sponsor of the Canadian women\u2019s curling championship event that will take over the Meridian Centre in downtown St. Catharines from Feb. 18 to 26.<\/span><\/p>\n

Enthusiastic Brock ambassadors are being sought to assist with a school program that has invited 3,600 elementary students from 32 schools to experience the national event live.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAs a community leader in Niagara, it\u2019s important for Brock University to be engaged and involved with major events happening in our region,\u201d said Gord Hunchak, Brock\u2019s Executive Director of Marketing and Communications.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Scotties Tournament of Hearts puts Niagara on the national stage, and we are thrilled that Brock is able to support this event.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Helping hands are needed Tuesday, Feb. 21 to Thursday, Feb. 23 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n

Twelve volunteers are required each day, two to hand out swag and promote the University at the venue\u2019s Brock booth and 10 to act as escorts for the elementary schools, guiding students from their buses to their event seats and back.<\/span><\/p>\n

Brock students, staff and faculty interested in volunteering can e-mail Amanda Laprise at <\/span>alaprise@brocku.ca<\/span><\/a> for more information.<\/span><\/p>\n

Students may be eligible for volunteer hours.<\/span><\/p>\n

Additional roles, including mascot and handler positions and general Meridian Centre volunteering, are also available for the tournament.<\/span><\/p>\n
