Students looking to boost their level of volunteer and work experience are in luck.<\/span><\/p>\n

Student Life and Community Experience, in partnership with Career Services and Brock University Students\u2019 Union, is hosting two events this week to help connect students with on- and off-campus opportunities.<\/span><\/p>\n

On Wednesday, Jan. 25, VolunteerFEST will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Market Hall. It will feature community organizations throughout the Niagara region that are looking for volunteers.<\/span><\/p>\n

A second event, Jobs on Campus and How to Get One, will take place the following day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., also in Market Hall. A variety of on-campus departments will be advertising student positions for the 2017-18 academic year.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Career Education department will also be hosting professional development breakout sessions during the career fair in the Learning Commons. Students can have their resume reviewed by Career Assistants from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and participate in mock interviews from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re aiming to match students and their skills to departments and organizations that would best suit them. From there, students can learn more about how and where to apply,\u201d said Victoria Parlatore, First-Year Experience Co-ordinator.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cLearning experiences don\u2019t just come from the classroom,\u201d Parlatore said. \u201cWe want to encourage students to take control of things that happen beyond academics and take advantage of these professional development opportunities.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
