In a matter of hours Thursday, the steel structure of the expanded Goodman School of Business rose up from the ground.<\/p>\n
Construction crews quickly assembled the first section of steel beams on the northwest section of the $22-million project that will see Taro Hall undergo a major expansion and renovation.<\/p>\n
The past four and a half months have been a flurry of activity around the construction site, which includes the areas to both the east and west of the existing Taro Hall.<\/p>\n
Construction on the project started in September, with crews first working to build a construction prep site between Taro Hall and the Student Alumni Centre.<\/p>\n
The remainder of 2016 saw the demolition of the east staircase and foundations being poured to begin the process of building a new extension that will have six classrooms of high-tech teaching space, as well as six large washrooms.<\/p>\n
Foundation was also poured on the area to the west side of Taro Hall to make way for the two-storey glass \u2018engagement atrium\u2019 at the west end of the complex. Serving as both a work\/meeting space for students, and a venue for Goodman events or presentations, the atrium will be a striking foyer looking out on the iconic sculpture of Maj.-Gen. Sir Isaac Brock.<\/p>\n
