{"id":42378,"date":"2016-11-29T18:31:08","date_gmt":"2016-11-29T22:31:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=42378"},"modified":"2016-12-05T10:43:58","modified_gmt":"2016-12-05T14:43:58","slug":"brock-sports-and-niagara-regional-police-announce-community-trading-card-sets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2016\/11\/brock-sports-and-niagara-regional-police-announce-community-trading-card-sets\/","title":{"rendered":"Brock Sports and Niagara Regional Police announce community trading card sets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Brock Sports and the Niagara Regional Police Service have expanded their partnership with a community initiative which will promote both organizations through student-athlete and police officer community trading cards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have a great partnership with the Niagara Regional Police Service,\u201d said Brock Sports Director Neil Lumsden. \u201cHaving our student leaders visible on trading cards\u00a0is an excellent way to engage\u00a0youth in the Niagara region, while profiling the Brock brand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Both organizations are community leaders and strong role models to elementary school aged children in Niagara. Brock has more than 800 student-athletes and the NRPS has 700 police officers on the service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am very proud of the longstanding relationship that the NRPS has with Brock University and particularly the athletes,\u201d said Niagara Chief of Police Jeff McGuire. &#8220;This program we launched today will strengthen our collective team while enhancing public safety across the Region.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The first set of collector&#8217;s cards are Brock student-athletes who do a lot through the University\u2019s community programs. They include: Hannah Pass (women&#8217;s fencing); Maddie Brown (women&#8217;s volleyball); Charles Kim (swimming); Brittany Gillmor (women&#8217;s hockey); Ryan Purvis (men&#8217;s hockey); Sammy Banga (men&#8217;s hockey); Dani Elgadi (men&#8217;s basketball); and Alex Symonds (women&#8217;s basketball).<\/p>\n<p>These cards will be distributed through Badgers Care, IMPACT, Brock University Athlete Council programs and Badger Camps, as well as to local elementary schools and sports organizations.<\/p>\n<p>Brock Sports will be producing three additional eight-card sets using other student-athletes by mid-January, 2017. In addition, a set of police cards will be launched prior to Christmas, which will feature, among others, Brock Badgers men\u2019s hockey alumni C.J. Dickson, who was at Tuesday\u2019s launch.
