{"id":42012,"date":"2016-11-14T11:08:05","date_gmt":"2016-11-14T15:08:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=42012"},"modified":"2016-11-16T11:48:30","modified_gmt":"2016-11-16T15:48:30","slug":"brock-grad-student-chosen-for-national-stand-up-campaign-against-bullying","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2016\/11\/brock-grad-student-chosen-for-national-stand-up-campaign-against-bullying\/","title":{"rendered":"Brock grad student chosen for national Stand UP! campaign against bullying"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Brock University Graduate student Kimberly Mularczyk is one person who implores students to stand up, not stand by, when they see instances of bullying around them.<\/p>\n<p>A master\u2019s student in Child and Youth Studies, Mularczyk is also part of a national organization called Promoting Relationships and Eliminating Violence Network (PREVNet), whose mission is to stop bullying and promote healthy relationships for children and youth.<\/p>\n<p>Her PREVNet involvement led her to work with the Family Channel, using research to help <a href=\"http:\/\/promo.family.ca\/stand-up\/\">develop resources<\/a> and bullying prevention tips for parents, teachers and students. Recently she was chosen to represent PREVNet in the Family Channel\u2019s 14th annual &#8216;Stand UP!&#8217; Bullying Awareness Week campaign, joining actors from the TV show <em>The Next Step<\/em> at a rally at Lord Kitchener Elementary School in Vancouver.<\/p>\n<p>Hundreds of students filled the school gym to get an advance look at a special bullying episode from \u201cThe Next Step\u201d, and learn about the harmful effects of bullying and how to help stop it.
