{"id":41682,"date":"2016-10-24T15:18:36","date_gmt":"2016-10-24T19:18:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=41682"},"modified":"2016-10-24T15:18:36","modified_gmt":"2016-10-24T19:18:36","slug":"student-wins-pc-nomination-in-niagara-west-glanbrook","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2016\/10\/student-wins-pc-nomination-in-niagara-west-glanbrook\/","title":{"rendered":"Student wins PC nomination in Niagara West-Glanbrook"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 19-year-old Brock University student won the Progressive Conservatives nomination to become the party\u2019s candidate in Niagara West-Glanbrook during a meeting Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p>Sam Oosterhoff, a first-year political science student, will be the candidate in a Nov. 17 byelection in the riding left vacant when former party leader Tim Hudak resigned last month.<\/p>\n<p>Oosterhoff was up against party president and former MP Rick Dykstra, as well as regional councillor Tony Quirk and NewsNow publisher Mike Williscraft in seeking the nomination.<\/p>\n<p>According to his website, Oosterhoff has worked within the conservative movement as an activist and on campaigns.
