Smith is an award-winning cookbook author and culinary journalist. He is also known to millions as host of the Food Network\u2019s <em>Chef at Home<\/em>, <em>Chef at Large<\/em> and <em>Chef Abroad<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Smith\u2019s participation in Soir\u00e9e was facilitated by the fact he is also Official Ambassador of Sodexo Canada, which is Brock\u2019s official food provider.<\/p>\n<p>The soir\u00e9e is a fundraising gala held each autumn to commemorate the university\u2019s namesake Major-General Sir Isaac Brock. It is a modern celebration interwoven with themes of 1812-13, when Brock commanded British troops in the War of 1812. Now in its third year, the soir\u00e9e has raised more than $150,000 to support the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts and other strategic priorities at Brock.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s event will feature musical interludes from a piano bar as well as interactive performances by students from the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts.
