The issue of consent is important for everyone to understand\u00a0and\u00a0Brock University is\u00a0helping inform students.<\/p>\n
As part of\u00a0O-Week, consent education is taking place with a\u00a0highlight being a\u00a0featured talk Tuesday, Sept. 6\u00a0by Kim Katrin Milan and Tiq Milan.<\/p>\n
Associate Professor Margot Francis, who sits on Brock’s Sexual Violence Prevention Committee, said now is an important time for students to be reminded about consent and other issues around sexuality.<\/p>\n
“In the first month, research shows that there’s a higher percentage of sexual assaults on campuses,” she said.<\/p>\n
Using their personal experiences, the couple\u00a0will talk about sex and everything that goes along with it. The pair are a feature of the orientation program on many campuses and lead a discussion you won’t want to miss.<\/p>\n
“They can expect to hear about sexuality, sexual consent and about healthy relationships,” Francis\u00a0said. “The idea for Kim and Tiq to speak on campus came from the education working group of the Sexual Assault Prevention Committee.”<\/p>\n
Two sessions are being held in the David S. Howes theatre, at 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
Both events are open and everyone is welcome to come.<\/p>\n
