Brock University has announced two interim senior administrative appointments to take effect this summer.<\/p>\n

Martin Singer<\/p><\/div>\n

The University\u2019s Board of Trustees has confirmed the appointments of Martin Singer as acting Provost and Vice-President, Academic, effective Sept. 1, and also of Steven Renzetti as interim Vice-President, Research, effective Aug. 1.<\/p>\n

Singer will replace Neil McCartney, who is stepping down on Aug. 31.\u00a0Singer has been a scholar and an administrator in Canadian higher education for more than four decades, most recently at York University, where from 2009 to 2015 he served as Founding Dean of the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies, one of Canada\u2019s largest faculties, with more than 26,000 students.<\/p>\n

From 1972 to 2009, Singer was at Montreal\u2019s Concordia University, where he was a professor of Chinese History and also served as Provost and Vice-President Academic Affairs, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Science, Director of the Council for International Cooperation and Chair of the History Department.<\/p>\n

Steven Renzetti<\/p><\/div>\n

Steven Renzetti takes over from Gary Libben, who is stepping down when his term ends July 31.<\/p>\n

A Professor in Economics, who last January became Associate Vice-President, Research for Humanities and Social Sciences, Renzetti is a leading researcher on fresh water resources and conservation, with a record of contributions to Brock\u2019s growing culture of research leadership.<\/p>\n

His accomplishments include securing a $2.3-million SSHRC Partnership research grant to set up the Water Economics, Policy and Governance Network (WEPGN), a Canada-wide group of researchers, managers, policy makers and community groups coming together to help solve our pressing water issues.<\/p>\n

Renzetti has served\u00a0on a number of editorial boards, government commissions and panels, including the\u00a0Science Advisory Committee to the International Joint Commission\u2019s Great Lakes Water Quality Board.<\/p>\n

Brock will announce the details of formal searches for both the Provost and Vice-President Academic and the Vice-President, Research positions in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
