{"id":39847,"date":"2016-06-24T13:50:46","date_gmt":"2016-06-24T17:50:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=39847"},"modified":"2016-06-24T13:51:28","modified_gmt":"2016-06-24T17:51:28","slug":"hutchings-to-be-acting-president-when-lightstone-steps-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2016\/06\/hutchings-to-be-acting-president-when-lightstone-steps-down\/","title":{"rendered":"Hutchings to be Acting President when Lightstone steps down"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>With one week left in Jack Lightstone\u2019s 10 years as University President, Brock\u2019s Board of Trustees on Thursday June 23 appointed Brian Hutchings as the Acting President for the summer months.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_39851\" style=\"width: 194px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-39851\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-39851\" src=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/brianhutchings_Fotor.jpg\" alt=\"Brian Hutchings\" width=\"184\" height=\"272\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-39851\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Brian Hutchings<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Hutchings, who is Brock\u2019s Vice-President, Administration, will be Acting President from July 1 until Sept. 1, when Wendy Cukier begins her tenure as University President.<\/p>\n<p>Hutchings, who joined Brock in 2012, has a Bachelor of Commerce degree in accounting from Saint Mary\u2019s University and a Master of Laws degree from the University of Toronto. He is also a Certified Public Accountant\/Certified General Accountant and a graduate of the Queen\u2019s University Public Executive Program.<\/p>\n<p>Before coming to Brock, he was the Treasurer and Commissioner of Corporate Services at the Niagara Region. He has also served on many community organizations, including on the boards of Wise Guys Charity, YMCA of Niagara and McNally House Hospice.
