Spicer explains to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/newfoundland-labrador\/sunshine-list-legislation-not-productive-political-scientist-1.3632965?cmp=rss\" target=\"_blank\"><em>CBC<\/em><\/a><em> News<\/em> the list actually works as a benchmark to see what their counterparts are making, effectively giving them the tools to renegotiate and earn more money.<\/p>\n<p><strong>London mayor\u2019s tryst begs question of power imbalance<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After London mayor Matt Brown and deputy mayor Maureen Cassidy admitted to their brief affair earlier this week, Professor Zachary Spicer believes that though this won\u2019t permanently damage his political standing, he will need to spend ample time regaining the trust of his councillors: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lfpress.com\/2016\/06\/15\/while-questions-and-even-anger-are-swirling-around-mayor-matt-brown-some-observers-doubt-his-affair-with-a-deputy-mayor-necessarily-makes-him-a-lame-duck-in-the-job\" target=\"_blank\"><em>London Free Press<\/em><\/a> and <em>Windsor Star.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><u><\/u><strong>A benefit system disadvantaging Canada\u2019s poorest children<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Post-doctoral fellow Lindsay McKay knows first-hand what it\u2019s like missing out on the maternity leave governmental benefits.
