{"id":39609,"date":"2016-06-13T09:28:06","date_gmt":"2016-06-13T13:28:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=39609"},"modified":"2016-06-13T11:28:18","modified_gmt":"2016-06-13T15:28:18","slug":"matt-clare-named-apereo-fellow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2016\/06\/matt-clare-named-apereo-fellow\/","title":{"rendered":"Matt Clare named Apereo Fellow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Matt Clare, Manager of e-Learning at Brock University&#8217;s\u00a0Centre for Pedagogical Innovation, was named an Apereo Fellow at the Apereo Annual Conference held in\u00a0New York City last month. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Apereo Foundation provides a framework for academic communities to work together to sustain open source software supporting\u00a0the delivery of teaching and learning. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As the chair of the Apereo Accessibility Working Group, Clare\u00a0has been an avid contributor to removing barriers for all\u00a0learners online. This work included a fundraising initiative to commission a professional review of Sakai and certifications of its accessibility that raised US$61,000. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">His work has helped to ensure Brock\u2019s learning management system, Sakai, upholds high standards of accessibility. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Through open collaboration, this same work will also benefit other intuitions using Sakai, like Western, Oxford, NYU and The\u00a0University of\u00a0Cape Town to name a few.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Clare\u00a0was one of five international fellows named.
