{"id":39106,"date":"2016-05-20T09:11:11","date_gmt":"2016-05-20T13:11:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=39106"},"modified":"2016-05-20T09:11:11","modified_gmt":"2016-05-20T13:11:11","slug":"rodman-hall-director-leaving-brock-for-role-in-grey-bruce","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2016\/05\/rodman-hall-director-leaving-brock-for-role-in-grey-bruce\/","title":{"rendered":"Rodman Hall director leaving Brock for role in Grey Bruce"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After four and a half years as director\/curator of Rodman Hall Art Centre, Stuart Reid is heading home to Owen Sound.<\/p>\n<p>Reid is leaving his role at Brock University to become the executive director of the Community Foundation GreyBruce.<\/p>\n<p>He said it will be a homecoming for him. He spent nine years as director and curator of the Tom Thomson Art Gallery in Owen Sound and still owns a house in the community.<\/p>\n<p>While Reid is looking forward to the new challenge that comes with a career change, he will miss Rodman Hall and the Niagara artists\u2019 community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have had the benefit of working with talented people at Rodman Hall,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019ve been on the top of our game.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reid said he leaves Rodman Hall with a strong curatorial program, substantial additions to the art collection and a reputation for outstanding, award-winning exhibitions and publications.<\/p>\n<p>And he said he didn\u2019t do it alone. He had the help of staff, students, faculty, administration, volunteers and the community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile I\u2019ve been here we\u2019ve opened up Rodman Hall, focusing on community connections and building partnerships with other organizations,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRodman Hall offers substantially to the national discourse around contemporary Canadian art.
