{"id":38703,"date":"2016-04-22T13:46:16","date_gmt":"2016-04-22T17:46:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=38703"},"modified":"2016-04-22T15:47:46","modified_gmt":"2016-04-22T19:47:46","slug":"mental-health-and-leadership-training-session-coming-soon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2016\/04\/mental-health-and-leadership-training-session-coming-soon\/","title":{"rendered":"Mental health and leadership training session coming soon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An upcoming Mental Health and Leadership Training session hosted by the Aboriginal Student Organization will \u201cfoster a feeling of belonging and empower\u201d students to be leaders, says one of the organizers.<\/p>\n<p>In partnership with BUSU club Altitude at Brock, this training will provide students with the necessary tools and skills to effectively communicate with others and build stronger relationships.<\/p>\n<p>Ryan Wijesirigunawardena, the President of ASO, says this will \u201chelp bring Brock students together by increasing engagement with other communities and student groups.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brock staff will provide the training sessions and students will earn certificates upon completion.<\/p>\n<p>Students will receive:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Foundations in Leadership Bronze Level training<\/li>\n<li>Suicide Prevention Training (Question, Persuade, Refer)<\/li>\n<li>Mental Health First Aid training<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is on a first come, first serve basis and will take place on campus April 29 and 30 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Students who are part of a BUSU club are eligible to receive the training. Lunch will be provided.<\/p>\n<p>There are 24 seats available.
