{"id":38516,"date":"2016-04-12T09:14:24","date_gmt":"2016-04-12T13:14:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=38516"},"modified":"2016-04-12T09:15:35","modified_gmt":"2016-04-12T13:15:35","slug":"mandigo-named-brocks-new-vice-provost-with-an-important-new-task","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2016\/04\/mandigo-named-brocks-new-vice-provost-with-an-important-new-task\/","title":{"rendered":"Mandigo named Brock\u2019s new Vice-Provost, with an important new task"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kinesiology Professor Jamie Mandigo has been announced as Brock University\u2019s first-ever Vice-Provost, Enrolment Management and International.<\/p>\n<p>The new senior academic position, created and approved in late 2015, is responsible for leading the development of enrolment management, data management and international engagement. Mandigo commences the role on May 1, appointed for a five-year term.<\/p>\n<p>Reporting to Provost and Vice-President Academic, the new position includes oversight and leadership of the Registrar\u2019s Office, International Market Development, Brock International Services, ESL Services, and Institutional Analysis and Planning.<\/p>\n<p>Provost Neil McCartney said the University is pleased to have someone with Mandigo\u2019s combined research, teaching and administrative experience help launch this important new portfolio. Mandigo\u2019s resume at Brock includes stints as interim Dean in the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences, co-director of Brock\u2019s Centre for Healthy Development through Sport and Physical Activity, and Vice-Chair of Senate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis important new position demonstrates the University\u2019s commitment to advancing Brock\u2019s profile on a global scale,\u201d said McCartney. \u201cJamie has a proven track record as a researcher and as a leader. We\u2019re fortunate to have someone with those credentials to take on this role.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mandigo said domestic and international enrolment management will be increasingly critical files in the coming decade, and he looks forward to working with the Brock team to strengthen the University\u2019s strategies and tactics on this front.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe best possible recruitment tool is offering quality academic programs,\u201d said Mandigo. \u201cI look forward to working with members across the Brock community to help ensure that we continue to strive towards offering world class programs that will not only attract students from all parts of Ontario, Canada, and around the globe but also help to ensure our students have the skills they need to be successful and make a positive contribution in the 21<sup>st<\/sup> Century\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mandigo, who has been at Brock since 2000, received his BA from Wilfrid Laurier University, his Master\u2019s from Laurentian University and his PhD from University of Alberta.<\/p>\n<p>Mandigo\u2019s scholarly work has included a mix of published works and applied projects with practitioners at home and abroad. His current research and development project in the Central American countries of El Salvador and Guatemala explores the role that sport and physical education have in the prevention of youth violence. His research and development activities in this area have been funded by the Social Science and Humanities Research Council, the International Olympic Committee, and Scotiabank International. Mandigo received Physical and Health Education Canada\u2019s most prestigious award, the R.
