{"id":38007,"date":"2016-03-09T17:14:41","date_gmt":"2016-03-09T21:14:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=38007"},"modified":"2016-03-09T17:14:41","modified_gmt":"2016-03-09T21:14:41","slug":"student-car-share-service-ceases-operations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2016\/03\/student-car-share-service-ceases-operations\/","title":{"rendered":"Student car share service ceases operations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Brock University Students&#8217; Union Wednesday was notified that Student Car Share, the company that provides Brock&#8217;s on-campus car share program has ceased operations and has gone out of business. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">BUSU General Manager Chris Green said it was a surprising development to the students&#8217; union.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">&#8220;We were in negotiations with them to extend their service agreement and had no indication that this was a possibility,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We have reached out to the operators of the service to get information on next steps, but communication has not been forthcoming with information. We will be taking the necessary steps to ensure that students are not affected moving forward.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">BUSU plans to look for a new\u00a0provider for car sharing services at Brock University. In the meantime, Green said BUSU would like to hear from any\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Student Car Share members that had purchased memberships. Anyone who\u00a0received free memberships during promotional periods are not asked to reach out.
