This year\u2019s first talk in the Social Justice Research Institute\u2019s speaker series is happening Wednesday, Jan. 27 at noon.<\/p>\n
Associate Professor Janet Conway, Canada Research Chair in Social Justice, will present the first talk Contesting social justice: beyond the \u2018modern political.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n The talk \u2013 being held in the Walker Complex in 251 – will explore the shifts in the meaning and content of social justice and the role of class and identity as well as how politics and theories of social justice are shifting.<\/p>\n The speaker series will feature mainly Brock faculty and postdoctoral fellows along with some researcher from outside the University.<\/p>\n The presentations will be informal, and geared towards promoting exchange of ideas and collaboration. Students are welcome to attend.<\/p>\n The second speaker will be visiting Fulbright Scholar Babette Boyd on March 21 at 5 p.m. Her talk is titled The Racial Contexts of Sexual Assault.<\/em><\/p>\n
