{"id":36912,"date":"2015-12-10T10:30:43","date_gmt":"2015-12-10T14:30:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=36912"},"modified":"2015-12-10T10:30:43","modified_gmt":"2015-12-10T14:30:43","slug":"campus-wide-co-curriculum-workshop-being-held","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2015\/12\/campus-wide-co-curriculum-workshop-being-held\/","title":{"rendered":"Campus Wide Co-Curriculum workshop being held"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Brock University\u00a0recognizes that increasing students\u2019 engagement in their Brock experience both <b><i>inside,<\/i><\/b> and <b><i>outside, <\/i><\/b>the classroom is central to ensuring students\u2019 success.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">A workshop for faculty members is being held Wednesday, Dec. 16 to provide more information about the Campus Wide Co-Curriculum (CWC).<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The <a href=\"applewebdata:\/\/8DA4D96B-0A8C-4D2A-B7B4-4EEF361ED1C2\/experiencebu.brocku.ca\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"s2\">ExperienceBU<\/span><\/a> portal has been growing over the past two years with student participation as they use it to find campus and community events, look for volunteer opportunities and join clubs, and participate in the CWC. Students aren\u2019t only learning when they\u2019re in class; there is also tremendous learning that comes from extra-curricular and co-curricular activities like campus events, club involvement and volunteerism &#8212; as well as many others. The CWC is a unique guide to help students develop, enhance, and\/or improve their\u00a0understanding and skills in 10\u00a0different co-curricular <a href=\"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/webfm_send\/32354\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"s2\">domains<\/span><\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Arts &amp; Culture<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Brock Spirit<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Career Preparation<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Community Engagement<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Diversity &amp; Inclusion<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Global Awareness<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Health &amp; Wellness<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Innovation<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Leadership &amp; Teamwork<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Personal Growth<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Reflection is a key component of any learning experience and co-curricular experiences are no different.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cGetting involved has expanded by comfort zone, allowing me to network with amazing people, try new things, apply my classroom learning to real-life situations, make the most out of every experience, and most importantly, have confidence in myself!\u201d says fourth-year Concurrent BA (Honours)\/Bed student, Alyssa Berardocco.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">If you are interested in learning more about this tool and what it means to you as a faculty member, <a href=\"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/pedagogical-innovation\"><span class=\"s2\">register<\/span><\/a> to secure your spot for this upcoming workshop:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Integrating the Campus Wide Co-Curriculum in to Academic Courses: Overview and Examples<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015<br \/>\n9:00 am \u2014 10:30 am<br \/>\nThistle 253 e-classroom<\/p>\n<p>This session will provide an overview of the <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/experiencebu\/curriculum\" target=\"_blank\">CWC<\/a>\u00a0and how two faculty members, Mary-Beth Raddon and Gail Cook, have integrated the CWC in to their existing courses.
