The Brock University community has done it again, and this time a month early. The University\u2019s United Way campaign has reached its annual fundraising goal of $140,000.<\/p>\n
\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s fantastic,\u201d said Brock\u2019s United Way campaign co-chair Kevin Lawr. \u201cWe want to raise as much money as we can, but also make the goal achievable.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Raising money for local organizations is something Lawr is passionate about. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI like to think that in making a difference I am part of a team that is making our community better, even in a small way,\u201d he said. \u00a0\u201cThe word \u2018community\u2019 means something. It\u2019s not just a group of houses \u2014 we share things and need to help each other.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Lawr emphasized the importance of donating to the United Way specifically. <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe need is great within the community and the United Way funds lots of agencies,\u201d he said. \u201cThe benefit of supporting the United Way is that they have the structure in place to donate money efficiently.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n This year\u2019s campaign consisted of several prominent events including the Souper Star Lunch, Trivia Night and Halloween Spin-A-Thon. Fundraising efforts were further bolstered by donations from members of the Brock community.<\/span><\/p>\n Lawr stressed the importance of contributing via payroll deduction. <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe want people to fill out their pledge form and return it to HR,\u201d he said. <\/span><\/p>\n This year\u2019s fundraising total will continue to grow\u00a0until the end of December and pledge forms may be dropped off at any time. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
