Two teams. Four wins. 2,887 fans.<\/span><\/p>\n

The cheers were deafening at the Meridian Centre Saturday night as the Brock Badgers men\u2019s and women\u2019s basketball teams scored big wins over the Lakehead Thunderwolves.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fans wore read, painted their faces and voiced their support for their teams as Brock played their first-ever games at the Meridian Centre in downtown St. Catharines. A record-breaking crowd of 2,887 people watched the games.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event was a partnership with the Niagara River Lions, who will use the downtown arena as their home court for their inaugural National Basketball League of Canada season, which gets under way Dec. 26.<\/span><\/p>\n

On Saturday,\u00a0Brock University swag, including thundersticks, cowbells and foam fingers helped students and fans show their Badger pride.\u00a0The teams both won on Saturday with the men\u2019s team topping Lakehead 82-51 and the women\u2019s team winning by a 72-50 margin.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On\u00a0Friday, both the men\u2019s and women\u2019s teams also won their games against Lakehead\u00a0in soldout home opener contests at the Bob Davis Gymnasium at Brock University.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t
