{"id":36596,"date":"2015-11-19T11:34:33","date_gmt":"2015-11-19T15:34:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=36596"},"modified":"2015-11-19T11:37:57","modified_gmt":"2015-11-19T15:37:57","slug":"cheechoo-film-screening-coming-to-brock","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2015\/11\/cheechoo-film-screening-coming-to-brock\/","title":{"rendered":"Cheechoo film screening coming to Brock"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Moose River Crossing<\/em>, the award-winning film by Shirley Cheechoo, will be screened during a special performance at Brock University Thursday, Nov. 26.<\/p>\n<p>Cheechoo, <a href=\"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2015\/10\/cheechoo-makes-brock-university-history\/\">who was installed as Brock\u2019s Chancellor last month<\/a>, will be on hand for the screening, and will host a question and answer discussion with audience members at the end of the film.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt2339128\/\">Moose River Crossing<\/a><\/em> is a 90-minute feature film released in 2013. It examines the Aboriginal residential schools through the eyes of six fictional former students who meet at a train station to head to a reunion. They flash back to the troubling times they experienced at the residential school and aim to answer the question of whether or not time heals all wounds.<\/p>\n<p>Cheechoo wrote the movie based on her own\u00a0experience growing up in residential schools.<\/p>\n<p><em>Moose River Crossing<\/em> will be screened at 7 p.m. at Brock\u2019s Sean O\u2019Sullivan Theatre.
