{"id":36287,"date":"2015-11-05T16:16:32","date_gmt":"2015-11-05T20:16:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=36287"},"modified":"2015-11-17T11:14:50","modified_gmt":"2015-11-17T15:14:50","slug":"brock-badgers-to-make-history-at-meridian-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2015\/11\/brock-badgers-to-make-history-at-meridian-centre\/","title":{"rendered":"Brock Badgers to make history at Meridian Centre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The <a href=\"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2015\/11\/badgers-mens-and-womens-basketball-earn-top-10-cis-rankings\/\" target=\"_blank\">nationally ranked Brock Badgers men\u2019s and women\u2019s basketball teams<\/a> will make history Saturday, Nov. 28 when they play the first-ever Brock basketball games at the Meridian Centre in St. Catharines.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The game will attract the largest-ever crowd for any Brock sporting event and will potentially be the biggest crowd ever for basketball games held in the Niagara region.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">After playing their first home game of the regular season on Friday, Nov. 27 at Brock\u2019s Bob Davis Gymnasium, the Badgers will host the Lakehead Thunderwolves in a doubleheader at the Meridian Centre on Nov. 28. The women\u2019s team plays at 5 p.m. with the men taking to the court at 7 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThese games are a fantastic community partnership between Brock, the Meridian Centre and the River Lions,\u201d said Robert Cargnelli, Interim Director, Athletics and Recreation. \u201cIt will be an historic night for everyone involved. I know the Badgers players are excited to be part of something as big as this.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ticketmaster.ca\/brock-badgers-basketball-st-catharines-ontario-11-28-2015\/event\/10004F639DCB5454?artistid=1763446&amp;majorcatid=10004&amp;minorcatid=7\" target=\"_blank\">Tickets for the doubleheader are now on sale\u00a0through Ticketmaster<\/a><i>.<\/i> Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for youths, students and seniors with premium courtside VIP seats also available\u00a0using\u00a0the promotional code <em>Alumni<\/em>. In addition, there are 1,000 tickets set aside for Brock University students, who get free admission to home games with their student fees.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The Badgers will play on the basketball court used by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.riverlions.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">Niagara River Lions<\/a>, who will start their inaugural season in the National Basketball League of Canada in December.
