Their buildings aren\u2019t moving an inch, but two of Niagara\u2019s major institutions will have new street addresses when the sun comes up on Monday, Oct. 26.<\/p>\n
Brock University and the Niagara Region\u2019s headquarters, located across the road from each other, made the joint announcement Saturday Oct. 24, during the University\u2019s annual gala banquet held to honour its namesake, Maj.-Gen. Sir Isaac Brock.<\/p>\n
The University\u2019s address becomes 1812 Sir Isaac Brock Way in St. Catharines. It ceases to be 500 Glenridge Avenue.<\/p>\n
Across the street (which is also a city boundary), the Niagara Region\u2019s address becomes 1815 Sir Isaac Brock Way in Thorold. It had previously been 2201 St. David\u2019s Road.<\/p>\n
Existing postal codes and P.O. boxes for both organizations will remain unchanged. Only the street address is affected.<\/p>\n
The addresses became possible after Niagara regional council voted earlier this year to change the name of St. David\u2019s Road to Sir Isaac Brock Way.<\/p>\n
The two street numbers reflect the first and last years of the War of 1812, during which Maj.-Gen. Sir Isaac Brock died at nearby Queenston Heights while leading troops to successfully repel an invasion by American soldiers.<\/p>\n

Sir Isaac Brock,\u201d said Alan Caslin, Niagara Region Chair. \u201cWe continue to remember the important legacy of Sir Isaac Brock in Niagara through the Region\u2019s new address of 1815 Sir Isaac Brock Way.\u201d<\/p>\n
Brock President Jack Lightstone said the University was pleased to be able to get a street address that honours the University\u2019s namesake.<\/p>\n
