It could be as simple as dedicating a song to someone on the radio, or calling a long-lost friend, or opening a door for a stranger.<\/p>\n
There are many ways to make someone’s day a little brighter, which is the idea behind Random Act of Kindness Day<\/a>.<\/p>\n An initiative of the Niagara Community Foundation<\/a>, Random Act of Kindness Day (Nov. 7) is an opportunity for residents to help others and to respond to acts of kindness by doing a good deed for someone else.<\/p>\n Brock University is once again on board.<\/p>\n “Students have begun planning a series of activities on campus and in the community,” said Kristen Smith, Brock Student Life and Community Experience<\/a> manager. “We will have teams raking leaves in local neighbourhoods, distributing positive messages, RAK nominations and kindness card making stations set up throughout the campus. It’s a great community-building day for Brock and the Niagara region.”<\/p>\n Many schools, businesses, organizations and individuals have taken up this call for kindness with more than 60,000 cards distributed to date.<\/p>\n The cards encourage the cardholder to perform an act of kindness for someone – a neighbour, a friend, a co-worker, or someone they don’t even know – and hand the card over to that person, encouraging him\/her to do the same.<\/p>\n
