Gray, a science major in mathematics and computer applications, and Myers, a science major in chemistry, have two more years left of U23 eligibility.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We knew that the Czech Republic was fast but we didn&#8217;t expect them to go out that fast, taking a six-second lead on us in the first 500 metres,&#8221; Gray told <a href=\"http:\/\/rowingcanada.org\" target=\"_blank\">Rowing Canada<\/a>. &#8220;We executed our race plan but it just wasn&#8217;t really enough to take down Great Britain or the Czech Republic. The standard is so high here, racing is so fast, but I&#8217;ll be back.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-29140\" title=\"lm21\" src=\"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/lm21-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"lm21\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Three other Brock athletes were at the world championships. Matt Wortley and Matt Finley competed in the men&#8217;s quad, while Katherine Walker placed third in the lightweight women&#8217;s double C final.<\/p>\n<p>Walker and fellow Badger David de Groot will compete in the <a href=\"http:\/\/rowingcanada.org\/events\/commonwealth-rowing-association-championships\" target=\"_blank\">Commonwealth Rowing Association Championships<\/a> in Strathclyde, Scotland Aug. 9.\u00a0Brock head men&#8217;s rowing coach Peter Somerwil is on the Canadian staff.<\/p>\n<p>Brock has become the benchmark for success in Canadian university rowing.
