The Brock community is reminded that <\/span>Tuesday Sept. 2, 2014<\/strong> is the deadline date for nominations to be submitted for the University’s next Chancellor.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nominations<\/a> can be submitted, in confidence, <\/span>by all Brock faculty, staff or students, and by members of the surrounding Niagara community.<\/span><\/p>\n

With Ned Goodman due to complete his term as Chancellor after Fall Convocation 2014, the Advisory Committee on the Appointment of the Chancellor has been conducting a search for his successor. <\/span>Susan Sydor, as Chair of Senate, is also Chair of the Advisory Committee.<\/span><\/p>\n

The committee has developed a profile identifying the required attributes for the next Chancellor, included below, upon which nominations should be based. The Committee has also developed a nomination form (attached). Nominees may submit multiple nominations. All nominations will be considered in confidence.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a considerable number of nominations are expected, nominators are asked not to contact the individual they wish to nominate as this may inappropriately raise their expectations. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Committee will consider all nominations fully and will submit its recommendations to Senate before any nominees are contacted.<\/span><\/p>\n

CHANCELLOR PROFILE<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Chancellor is the titular head of Brock University and as such, is the embodiment of the ideals and aspirations of Brock University. His or her personal stature, accomplishments and record of contributions to the public good shall be such so as to enhance the reputation of Brock. In addition, the Chancellor will possess the high profile required to promote the interests of the University locally, nationally and beyond and to interact effectively with government, the business community and the public at large. The Chancellor shall also engage with and act as a role model for a substantial part of the student body.<\/p>\n

The Chancellor presides over all convocations and is an ex officio member of the Board of Trustees and Senate. As an active leader dedicated to moving the University forward, the Chancellor will have a commitment to advancing student welfare, higher education and University research, and to working toward the improvement of the infrastructure and resource base of the University.<\/p>\n

This role will require energy, commitment and time in order to provide guidance and counsel to the University community. The Chancellor will possess the communication skills necessary to engage and inspire both the internal and external stakeholders of Brock University.<\/p>\n
