The 19th year wrapped up June 26.  <\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/recreation-services\" target=\"_blank\">Recreation Service&#8217;s<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/recreation-services\/child-and-youth\/pals\" target=\"_blank\">Positive Active Living for Students<\/a> (PALS) program completed its 19th year of end-of-year trips for elementary schools.<\/p>\n<p>The program, which this year started May 5 and ended June 27, follows <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peopleforeducation.ca\/profile\/ontario-physical-and-health-education-association-ophea\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ontario Physical and Health Education Association<\/a> guidelines to provide alternative activity-based programs for children from Grade 1 to 8 as their year-end school trip.<\/p>\n<p>Activities may include: omni-kin ball, rowing, archery, tchoukball, flag rugby, co-op games, fencing, swimming and more.<\/p>\n<p>Brock University students design lesson plans to suit each class that attends.<\/p>\n<p>Brock alumna Janine (Sproul) Angus (BPhEd &#8217;98) has brought 10 classes each year from Ruth Thompson Middle School in Mississauga for the past 11 years.<\/p>\n<p>She said the children love the variety of activities, the setting and facilities at Brock, and the enthusiasm of the student instructors.<\/p>\n<p>Approximately 4,000 youth attend the program each May and June with their teachers, and some even bring their parents.<\/p>\n<p>Most schools that attended this year were from Niagara, but others travelled from the Greater Toronto Area.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Recreation Service&#8217;s Positive Active Living for Students (PALS) program completed its 19th year of end-of-year trips for elementary schools.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":28759,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[3,1],"tags":[2031,2034,2033,2029,2030,2028,2027,74,623,686,2032],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/28756"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=28756"}],"version-history":[{"count":4,"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/28756\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":28761,"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/28756\/revisions\/28761"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/28759"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=28756"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=28756"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=28756"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
