Gibson Library, members of the Learning Commons and the Faculty of Graduate Studies on Dec. 10 for a day of workshops and presentations designed to highlight the most forward-thinking research tools, teaching and career planning for graduate students.<\/p>\n<p>Morning sessions, led by the library, include:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 I heart my librarian:  A fast and furious review of liaison services<br \/>\n\u2022 Who&#8217;s reading my book: Using library tools to track reviews and citations, even set up an alert when someone reviews your book<br \/>\n\u2022 Visualize your data: Hands-on GIS mapping<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Descriptions of sessions\" href=\"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/webfm_send\/29057\" target=\"_blank\">Find detailed descriptions and the full range of library sessions online<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Sign up for sessions\" href=\" https:\/\/brocku.ca\/node\/21081\" target=\"_blank\">Sign up for the library sessions online<\/a><\/p>\n<p>For more details about Library programming, contact Denise Smith at x3809.<\/p>\n<p>That afternoon, take part in the Graduate Student Skills Mash-up, co-ordinated by the Academic + Professional Development Partners (formerly Grad Plus).<\/p>\n<p>The mash-up is designed to offer hands-on professional skill sharpening and retooling.<\/p>\n<p>Sessions include:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Resume Clinic: A highly valuable one-on-one feedback session with Career Services staff. A hard copy of your resume\/CV is required. Space is limited.<br \/>\n\u2022 Build your Teaching Dossier for your Job Search (60 minutes): Presented by the Centre for Pedagogical Innovation<br \/>\n\u2022 Persuasive writing for research proposals (60 minutes): Presented by A-Z Learning Services<br \/>\n\u2022 The Longer Hour &#8211; Time Management Skills (30 minutes): presented by A-Z Learning Services<\/p>\n<p>All sessions will be held in the Learning Commons e-classroom, from 1 to 3 p.m.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Information about sessions\" href=\"http:\/\/gradplus.brockubeta.ca\/events\/?ee=142\" target=\"_blank\">More information is available online <\/a><\/p>\n<p>Drop in to the e-classroom from noon to 1 p.m. for refreshments and to fill out a grad student survey to be eligible to win an iPad mini.<\/p>\n<p>For details on the skills mash-up, contact Karin Perry at x6129<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Join the James A.
