It’s canoeing and Thursday, Bruce Erickson, author of Canoe Nation: Nature, Race, and the Making of a Canadian Icon, will present a talk about paddling and the social significance of it throughout Canada’s history. Erickson is also an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography at York University.<\/p>\n
His presentation, Recreating History, Consuming Nature: Canoeing, Suffering and Embodied Heritage, happens from 1 to 3 p.m. in Plaza 600F.<\/p>\n
It’s hosted by the University’s Sociology Speakers Series with the support of the departments of Geography, and Recreation and Leisure Studies, the Centre for Canadian Studies and the MA in Social Justice and Equity Studies.<\/p>\n
