Brock's custodial staff was recognized Wednesday as part of National Custodian Day celebrations.<\/p><\/div>\n

The men and women who keep Brock looking its best were honoured for their efforts Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Dozens of Brock’s 93 custodians were recognized for keeping the campus in top form during the second annual National Custodian Day celebrations. Maintenance and cleaning staff took a time out from their afternoon to be thanked publicly for the important work they do.<\/p>\n

“Our university depends on our custodians,” said Dominic Maniccia, director of custodial services. “They work behind the scenes and it’s for the cleanliness and health of occupants. To me, that’s extremely important. You just can’t put a price on a healthy building.”<\/p>\n

He also thanked those on hand again for helping the university receive the Green Housekeeping Site gold certification earlier this year for keeping Brock clean with planet-friendly cleaners.<\/p>\n

But Maniccia noted his staff do more than keep the campus clean. They also take care of recycling, moving and setting up furniture, and event setup.<\/p>\n

“And at night, they’re the eyes and ears of the University because our night staff are here by themselves, save for campus security,” he added.<\/p>\n

Tom Saint-Ivany, Vice-President of Facilities Management, and Brian Hutchings, Vice-President of Finance and Administration, also thanked the University’s custodial staff.<\/p>\n

“I really appreciate what you do, how you do it safely and how it benefits the University,” Saint-Ivany said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
