{"id":24470,"date":"2013-09-30T14:28:22","date_gmt":"2013-09-30T19:28:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=24470"},"modified":"2013-09-30T14:28:22","modified_gmt":"2013-09-30T19:28:22","slug":"brock-hosts-niagaras-run-for-the-cure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2013\/09\/brock-hosts-niagaras-run-for-the-cure\/","title":{"rendered":"Brock hosts Niagara&#8217;s Run for the Cure"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_24471\" style=\"width: 494px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a class=\"highslide\" onclick=\"return vz.expand(this)\" href=\"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/relay-for-life-banner.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-24471\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-24471\" title=\"Sport shoes walking in summer\" src=\"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/relay-for-life-banner.jpg\" alt=\"Brock University is hosting the Niagara edition of the CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, Oct. 6.\" width=\"484\" height=\"272\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-24471\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Brock University is hosting the Niagara edition of the CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, Oct. 6.<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p>About 1,200 people will be lacing up their runners and trekking across campus Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Brock University is hosting Niagara&#8217;s edition of the <a title=\"CIBC Run for the Cure\" href=\"http:\/\/www.runforthecure.com\/site\/PageServer?pagename=run_homepage_13\" target=\"_blank\">CIBC Run for the Cure on Oct. 6,<\/a> welcoming philanthropic runners and walkers from throughout the region for the one-kilometre and five-kilometre events.<\/p>\n<p>The run happens 9:30 to 11:15 a.m. with opening and closing ceremonies taking place in Weather Station Field across from the Alumni-Student Centre.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Google Maps\" href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/3FCLi  \" target=\"_blank\">View the run route.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Access to the campus will be affected that day and participants are encouraged to use the St. David&#8217;s Road entrance during run times.<\/p>\n<p>Free parking will be available in Zone 1 and Zone 2 for the duration of the event. Visitors will still have access to Lots B and D throughout the run and DeCew, Vallee and Earp residences can be accessed by using the Glenridge Avenue entrance (traffic circle).<\/p>\n<p><strong>University Road East from Meter Road to Village Road will be closed <\/strong>from about 9:45 to 10:30 am for the start of the run. Access to and from Lot P will not be available during this time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Village Road will be closed to traffic<\/strong> from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.  Any Village Residence drop-offs or pickups during this time can be rerouted to the front of Lowenberger Residence.<\/p>\n<p>Registration to participate in the Run for the Cure is still open and Brock&#8217;s team is recruiting runners and walkers. <a title=\"Registration\" href=\"https:\/\/secure3.convio.net\/cbcf\/site\/SPageServer\/?pagename=run_homepage_13\" target=\"_blank\">To take part, register online.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Not able to join the team on run day?
