{"id":23014,"date":"2013-06-10T08:10:52","date_gmt":"2013-06-10T13:10:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=23014"},"modified":"2013-06-10T08:10:52","modified_gmt":"2013-06-10T13:10:52","slug":"videos-posted-from-2013-mapping-events","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2013\/06\/videos-posted-from-2013-mapping-events\/","title":{"rendered":"Videos posted from 2013 Mapping events"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Faculty of Graduate Studies has posted a series of videos highlighting presentations held earlier this year as part of the Mapping the New Knowledges Graduate Student Research Conference.<\/p>\n<p>The videos feature:<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Three-Minute Thesis\" href=\"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/graduate-studies\/conferences-events\/3mt-competition\/2013-contest\" target=\"_blank\">The Three Minute Thesis Competition<\/a> &#8211; See the presentations of six brave graduate students, listed below, who launched Brock&#8217;s first contest:<br \/>\n\u2022 Sierra Holtzheuser, Child and Youth Studies (Winner)<br \/>\n\u2022 Abdullah Mahboob, Biotechnology (Runner-up)<br \/>\n\u2022 Jenna Lorusso, Applied Health Sciences<br \/>\n\u2022 Liz Kirk,  Applied Health Sciences<br \/>\n\u2022 David Hurem, Chemistry<br \/>\n\u2022 Jessey Rice, Earth Sciences<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Research Cafe\" href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/graduate-studies\/conferences-events\/2013-research-caf\/research-caf-feb2013\" target=\"_blank\">Environmental Sustainability in a Changing Climate<\/a> &#8211; This was the topic for the February Research Caf\u00e9 and it featured presentations by faculty and students with Brock&#8217;s Environmental Sustainability Research Centre (ESRC) as follows:<br \/>\n\u2022 Ryan Plummer, Director, ESRC, and Professor, Tourism and Environment<br \/>\n\u2022 Julia Baird, Post-Doctoral Fellow and Associate with the ESRC<br \/>\n\u2022 Sarah Merza, Honours Graduate, Biological Sciences<br \/>\n\u2022 Liette Vasseur, Professor, Biological Sciences, and ESRC associate<br \/>\n\u2022 Debbie Inglis, Director, Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute (CCOVI), and Associate Professor, Biological Sciences<br \/>\n\u2022 Kerrie Pickering, MA Student, Geography, and project manager for the ESRC<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Research Cafe\" href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/graduate-studies\/conferences-events\/2013-research-caf\/research-caf\" target=\"_blank\">Mapping Your Future<\/a> &#8211; This Fall-term presentation brought together a panel of speakers to share stories about the journey from graduate studies to careers and the opportunities and challenges along the way.
