Onley\" src=\"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/onley.jpg\" alt=\"onley\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2247\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">David Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, speaks at the annual Making a Difference Awards celebration.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The 2010 Vancouver Paralympic Games has changed the country\u2019s vision of people with disabilities, said David Onley, Ontario\u2019s Lieutenant Governor, at a Brock event last week.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2250\" style=\"width: 298px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2250\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2250  \" title=\"David Onley and Murray Knuttila\" src=\"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/onley4.jpg\" alt=\"David Onley, left, enters Pond Inlet with Murray Knuttila, Provost and Vice-President Academic.\" width=\"288\" height=\"162\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2250\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">David Onley, left, enters Pond Inlet with Murray Knuttila, Provost and Vice-President Academic.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The pride and athletic prowess displayed at the Games captivated Canadians, and \u201cmuch more than the ubiquitous blue sign with a white wheelchair, disabilities have become increasingly symbolized in this country by athletic competition,\u201d he said in a speech at Pond Inlet on March 30.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe impact of the Games cannot be overstated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Onley was the guest speaker at the 10th annual Making a Difference Awards luncheon, which was held by the Student Development Centre and Services for Students with disABILITIES. Accessibility, he said, is an \u201coverreaching theme of my term of office.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He presented awards to four members of the Brock community who have helped make the University more accessible. Lorne Adams, director of Athletics and the event&#8217;s Master of Ceremonies, received a special award for his contributions. Three faculty members \u2014 nominated by students whose lives they touched \u2014 received Making a Difference awards.
