{"id":20691,"date":"2013-02-06T11:56:14","date_gmt":"2013-02-06T16:56:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=20691"},"modified":"2013-02-06T11:56:14","modified_gmt":"2013-02-06T16:56:14","slug":"join-today%e2%80%99s-launch-party-for-the-new-goodman-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2013\/02\/join-today%e2%80%99s-launch-party-for-the-new-goodman-school\/","title":{"rendered":"Join today\u2019s launch party for the new Goodman School"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"highslide\" onclick=\"return vz.expand(this)\" href=\"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/goodman-school-of-business-banner.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-20693\" title=\"goodman-school-of-business-banner\" src=\"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/goodman-school-of-business-banner.png\" alt=\"goodman-school-of-business-banner\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This afternoon (Feb. 6), past and present faculty members and students will join University Chancellor Ned Goodman, President Jack Lightstone and other senior officials to throw a party officially launching the <a title=\"Goodman School of Business\" href=\"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/business\/\" target=\"_blank\">Goodman School of Business.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The two-hour event in Guernsey Market begins at 5 pm, and is the festive follow-up to last autumn&#8217;s announcement that the University&#8217;s Business faculty was being renamed the Goodman School of Business.<\/p>\n<p>The Brock community has been invited to join the celebration.<\/p>\n<p>The official announcement last fall surprised and delighted the Business faculty and the broader Brock community.<\/p>\n<p>The news was shared with Business faculty members in a closed meeting on the afternoon of Oct. 12. Later that evening the President elicited loud applause at the General Brock&#8217;s Soiree gala event when he publicly revealed the name change to honour the Goodman family, after the Goodman Foundation made a transformational gift to the business school.<\/p>\n<p>This is the first time in the University&#8217;s history that a faculty has been renamed in such a manner.<\/p>\n<p>The decision has met with widespread enthusiasm from students and officials alike.
