A Brock professor will be the keynote speaker at an event showcasing the talents of local software developers.<\/p>\n

Kevin Kee, Canada Research Chair in humanities computing,<\/a> will present the keynote address, The Future of the Past, or Why Historians Need to Work with Digital Media Developers, at DemoCamp 2, presented by Software Niagara, a grassroots organization<\/a> formed to bring together Niagara’s developers and build a stronger software community.<\/p>\n

DemoCamp2 will also feature demonstrations and question and answer sessions about the work of local developers, including:<\/p>\n

\u2022\tTrevor Twining, senior developer and team lead for CGI Group, with a Drupal distribution that enables simple publication and sharing of geographic data
\n\u2022\tGlen Herdy of Protecht will demonstrate the XAT Tool, addressing the often unheeded threats posed by printer security vulnerabilities
\n\u2022\tEricka Evans from Phantom Compass will present Rollers of the Realm, a unique mashup of pinball and fantasy role-playing game, to be launched in 2013 for iPad, PC, and XBLIG
\n\u2022\tSoftware Niagara’s very own app, produced during its Secret Hackathon.<\/p>\n

DemoCamp2 is intended to highlight new projects by Niagara developers and the increasingly vibrant and thriving nature of the local developer community.<\/p>\n

The event happens Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 6 p.m. at the Red Hot Chili Pepper in St. Catharines.<\/a> Kee takes the podium at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n

DemoCamp2 is free and open to programmers or anyone curious about software being created in Niagara.<\/p>\n
