The group also collected flowers to press and dry for Mother’s Day cards.

The young women also benefitted from interacting with current students and alumni who shared advice and career experiences.

The conference opened with alumna Nancy Doubleday who delivered a plenary talk, entitled “Arctic Ecohealth: Linking Local and Global … with lessons for peace from Dr. Seuss.”

And on the final day of the two-day event, participants attended a dinner with scientific mentors. The mentors – all women in scientific professions – included Brock alumnae Holly Falsetti, Risk Modeling Analyst, TD Bank, and Elly Jenkyns, Naturopathic Doctor, PURE Natural Health & Wellness, along with 13 other women from various science-related professions.

Earlier this month the Faculty of Mathematics and Science welcomed 80 scientifically-minded grade 11 girls from across Ontario to campus for its 22nd-annual Scientifically Yours conference. . . .

[1
3328
